Here are some additional stories and a picture gallery of some of my creations:

Duo Faux Fun

Ron sent me a lovely light brown with dark brown specks faux fur coat to have bears made for his grandchildren. The fur was very soft and fluffy but I wasn't sure I could get three full size bears from it so I added some brown faux fur I had on hand as accents and made duo-toned bears. Their scarves are made from the coat lining and include the names embroidered on them.

The 3 bears were very nicely appointed and arrived yesterday, thank you.

A Grandmother's Stole

Wendy sent me her grandmother's blond mink stole. She wanted two bears for Christmas. This stole was large enough to get two 14" bears. I used the embroidered name from the lining on one of the scarves. The scarves, noses, ear pads and paw pads were all made from the stole lining material.

Liane, The bears were absolutely GORGEOUS...way better than i could have ever imagined they would be !!! when i gave one to my grown neice on Christmas there was not a dry eye in the group...just such a special gift and a great way to have her great-grandmother's memory kept alive every day !!! i have already recommended your beautiful bears to others and hope they use your services !!! thank you again for such beautiful bears !!!!!!

Rose's Four

Rose called me just after my Christmas order countdown clock had ended. She asked me to try and fit in five bears from her 3/4 length fur coat for Christmas gifts. I was able to get five 14" bears from the coat. I used the lining for ear and paw pads and noses but felt they needed a splash of color so made fleece scarves for them.

Liane, the bears were wonderful--exactly what I was wanting. They were a real hit for Christmas. Thanks you so much!

Carolyn's Duo

Carolyn sent a beautiful cape stole made of blond mink. She wanted two bears. The stole was just large enough to comfortably get two 14" bears from it. I used the lining for the paw pads, ear pads, noses and scarves.

Liane, The bears arrived all tucked in their cute bags!  What a nice touch.
Thanks. I am so glad that there is a way to honor the fur that my dad gave to mom.  Now that she has two great grand children, it is fitting that they each get a cute little bear to love.  I know they will enjoy them from this Christmas on.

Sweaters Full of Memories

Angela sent two of her late husband's sweaters. She wanted them turned into teddy bears for her two young sons as Christmas gifts in remembrance of their father. The sweaters were both the same design in different colors. They had contrasting diamond shaped colors on the fronts. I worked the colors into the bears by using them for the muzzles, ears and feet. Each bear has her son's initials embroidered on a foot pad.

mink stole bearsTwo Mink Brothers

Erin sent me a mink stole that belonged to her husband's grandmother. She wanted two bears made for her husband and his brother.

The 13" bears took up every last inch of stole and lining. I almost switched to 12" bears after spending nearly two hours trying to make the pattern fit. However, I was able to find just the right layout to get the slightly larger bears.

I used the lining material for making the noses as well as the inset to ears and paws. I also made scarves for the bears using the lining. One of the scarves preserved the embroidered initials.

The bears are amazing. My husband and his brother were thrilled and my mother-in-law was very happy that her mother's stole was made into something that could be passed down as heirlooms. Thanks again for getting them done so well so quickly.

Thank you!

Fur coat bearsA Two-Tone Quartet

Jim and his brother sent me a beautiful dark fur coat and blond mink stole that belonged to their late mother. They wanted four bears as large as I could get from the fur. It took me over 2 hours of manipulating pattern pieces to finally find a layout that gave me four full 16" bears and it used every square inch of useable fur with no room for error.

Both garments had their mother's name embroidered on them so I used that portion of the lining to make scarves for two of the bears and the coat had some additional embroidery that I used on the other two bears' scarves.

Mixed real fur bearsA Family of Seven

Sally wanted seven bears for her grandchildren. She sent me a variety of fur items including a muskrat coat, and mink stoles and collars.

I couldn't get identical bears from the fur mix, so I decided to create seven different bears using the fur variety and the different linings. I've also settled into a signature accent for my bears finally. Each bear has a scarf with my fairygodmother mark on it.

Liane, I got a chance to look at the bears this morning and they look nice.
I am sure my grandchildren will like them also.

Thank you so much!

Mink fur coat bearsSisters of Blue

Eileen wanted two bears from her godmother's weasle jacket, one for herself and one for her sister. She said she liked the two-toned bears so I used a little muskrat fur I had on hand to provide accent for the bears' muzzles and ears.

The jacket lining had three initial patches on it, two with the initial "M". There was significance to the "M" so I used one on a foot of each bear. Since both women like blue, I also added a little bling with a blue sequine scarf.

Liane, I think the bears are adorable.  My sister said she will treasure the bear but offered this comment.  She said that her family thought it looked more like a puppy than a bear because the nose and muzzle were so flat.  She also said that she still loved it.

Eileen

As a result of Eileen's comment, I adjusted this particular pattern to make the muzzle a little longer.

Bear from fur coatA Little Angel

Christine had her mother's blond mink stole and wanted it turned into a teddy bear. She told me her mother had raised five girls and that she thought of her mother as an angel so it made sense to create an angel. The stole had "Francis" embroidered in the lining so I used it in the apron. The apron and wired wings are made from the stole lining.

Liane, My Francis arrived today and she is just beautiful. She is so soft and just absolutely beautiful. I'm so happy with her, she was worth every penny and I will treasure her. Thank you so much for all the work you did on her.

Teddy bears from fur stoleTwo Sisters

Marjory and her sister Jane had a mink stole from their mother along with a small sable piece. I made the heirloom teddy bears from the mink but used the sable for the bears' muzzles and ears. Each bear is emblished with a shawl and hat made from the stole's satin lining material.

Liane--the bears arrived today--and THEY ARE ADORABLE!!
The hats are so perfect--our Mother was definitely a "church lady"--she always wore a hat!
I can't wait for my sister to stop by-- we will treasure them always.

Thanks so much, Marjory

bears from mink coatBev's Cook and Seamstress

Bev asked me to make two heirloom teddy bears out of her children's great grandmother's mink stole. She told me that their great grandmother was a great cook and loved to sew. I translated that into the cook and the seamstress.

Hi Liane, God has blessed you with a beautiful gift. Thank you so much for creating my bears. I totally adore them. I have been showing them off to friends and family and they think they are awesome. Thanks!

Ruth's Dragons

My niece likes to write and she publishes some of her writing at Fictionpress.com. One of the projects she has going is a series of 52 poems (each 52 words long) about dragons. It is a cute series and inspired me to try and create a couple of her dragons.

Dragon Banana

Banana by Ruth Park:

"In the jungle there lived a bright yellow dragon with brown spots. He called himself Banana and hung around with a wild boar and one crazy jaguar. The three of them could often be found experimenting with the many hallucinogens one finds in the jungle. That is, until the cottage cheese incident."

Dragon Death Fang

Death Fang by Ruth Park

"He was the most feared dragon in all the land, but with a name like Death Fang it was kind of expected. He was huge with glossy black scales and a glare that could melt steel. You can imagine the surprise when they found him wearing a pink feather boa and lipstick."
