Gifts That Tie Generations Together

MB Neck Tie

JenningsM01Bears2

Order formWe can turn your loved one’s neck ties into memory bears. Neck ties make really rich looking teddy bears and are a lovely way to remember someone who wore ties. It usually takes at least 6 ties to make a 16″ Neck Tie bear. (If you have a limited number of ties and want several bears, give Liane a call.) We have to deconstruct every tie and then make the fabric from them before we even get to cutting and sewing the bear, so these custom bears cost more. However, we can save a little time in the process when making additional bears so we do offer a discount for additional bears.

Pricing

Our Neck Tie bear comes in two sizes. Each bear has jointed arms and legs, acrylic safety-lock eyes, plastic nose and comes with a scarf or satin ribbon.

  • $160 (plus shipping)for a 14″ neck tie bear, $140 for each additional bear
  • $180 (plus shipping)for a 16″ neck tie bear, $160 for each additional bear

  • $18 Premium German Glass Eyes (These are a special order and are available in three color options: Brown, Blue and old fashioned Shoe Button Black. (Glass eyes are NOT child safe.)

  • $18 to embroider initials or name on scarf (I do not have a large, industrial embroidery machine so am limited to a 4″ space but I can put a name on each scarf)
  • Clothing: (I can make the clothing from additional clothing you send, or from the lining of a coat, or from my own selection of fabrics. the cost is the same)

$20 to make a vest $25 to make a shirt/jacket/jumper $40 to make a full custom outfit

  • $25 to insert an in-stock 18 note music box We have a limited music selection in stock (check the order form for our current tunes). If you have a specific melody you’d like, you can either supply the music box, or I can try to find it. I will charge the normal $25 insert cost plus whatever the music box costs.

Merry Beth Grindahl sent her mother's fur coats to have bears made for her and her siblings. We mixed the two furs, making the bulk of the bears from one and accenting them with the other. Carmen Valdes sent her mother-in-law's fur coat to have bears made for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We were able to get five good-size bears from the fur. Marelne Gruenfelder wanted her wedding dress converted into a couple of heirloom items that she could use and appreciate. We made her a Christmas tree topper Angel and a very unique wall hanging.

We had agreed that the wall hanging would contain applique design but, when I set down to create a design concept, I decided to experiment with fabric sculpture so that some of the flowers would be more 3-D. The floral elements toward the bottom of the hanging came directly from her WD bodice and skirt. The "vine" that winds from the bottom to the top is from the straps of her gown and, of course the roses are made from the gown fabrics. The overall size of this is 18" x 24". It has hoops for putting dowel rods at the top and bottom for hanging, or it could be framed for display as well.

Tyrssa Philpot sent her wedding dress to have a unisex baptism outfit made for her son and future children/grandchildren to wear. Even though the outfit is intended to be unisex, she wanted us to use some of the lace and she wanted it as long as we could get.

Her WD was pretty fitted, which made getting a long gown from it a bit more difficult. We had to work with the seams quite a bit. However, we were able to get a "Bishop" style gown from it and used the lace mesh over the satin. We kept the large collar plain to make it more unisex. In addition to the gown, we made a matching bib, headband, booties and diaper cover as well as a gathered rose corsage.

Thought I'd share this blast from the past. A couple of year ago I made this custom doll to enter into a local competition. The rules of the competition were that we had to sew something using onlly a t-shirt, a piece of lingerie and a pillow case. I literally pulled the threads from the fabric to create her hair and she is stuffed with shredded pieces from the garments. ... See MoreSee Less
