Donna Johnson sent her wedding dress in to have christening outfits made forher grandchild and future grandchildren. She also asked us to make a ring pillow for her daughter’s future wedding. The gown was from the 1970s and had some lovely floral applique. The applique had colored over time and there wasn’t anything we could do about the color, so we incorporated it and the whole ensemble had a lovely heirloom quality to it.

Thought I'd share this blast from the past. A couple of year ago I made this custom doll to enter into a local competition. The rules of the competition were that we had to sew something using onlly a t-shirt, a piece of lingerie and a pillow case. I literally pulled the threads from the fabric to create her hair and she is stuffed with shredded pieces from the garments. ... See MoreSee Less

I'm really excited! Tomorrow my sister Jodie is coming to visit. We don't get to see much of each other so I'm looking forward to her visit--which means I may be distracted for a couple of days and not posting here much.

Work will still get done as I have some very talented helpers who will be working and I will be in the studio in the mornings making sure things are going forward. However, I'm planning to spend as much time with my sister as possible. Jodie is the one on the left in this picture. I'm the one in the middle. My sister Linda Jo is on the right. Our MOM made the outfits :)

Jill Maupin brought her wedding dress to us to have us make a First Communion gown for her daughter. Jill's wedding dress had some stunning bead work on it and I tried to incorporate it in a way that will work well for a 7-year-old to wear.

We also made Jill's original veil smaller. This ended up being more work than I had anticipated because we (I mean Cassie) pretty-much had to take the whole thing apart, cut it down and then re-assemble it. I was very pleased with the results thought.

In addition to the gown and veil, we made a teddy bear and a child's purse. Unfortunately, I did not get a photo of the purse.
