We used some of the lace from the WD on the large, split collar and created a satin band down the front that we put some of the lace trim that came from the hem of the WD.

We tried not to go too feminine on the bonnet but felt there needed to be a touch of lace.

Erin Spear sent her very lacy wedding dress to have a unisex baptism gown made from it. She wanted us to use the lace but was hoping for something her son could wear as well as any future daughters.

We decided to make the gown in our "angel" style. We made the bodice from the WD satin with some ribbon pleats and added a collar so that the bodice was a little more masculine. For the skirt, we used the lace over the satin. We finished the gown off with a removable sash.

Richard Poor sent his grandmother's wedding dress from 1952 to have this unisex christening gown made. The wedding dress was made of a very high quality satin but didn't have a lot of augmentation to it. What it did have, we used. There was some interesting little "scroll" elements on the bodice that we were able to incorporate into the bib collar. We also used the covered buttons as accents.

The wedding dress was constructed with rather thin panels of fabric seamed together for the skirt--which made it impossible to construct the gown without a seam down the center front so, we placed a ribbon down the front to cover the seam and add a nice element.

Nicole Mitchell sent her wedding dress to have us make christening outfits. She wanted our Gown & Romper combo with a jacket and accessories. We chose to make a sleeveless gown because the satin was pretty heavy. There was such pretty embroidery and bead work that we wanted to keep--which required a rather long skirt. We also used some of the embroidery on the faux vest of the romper. We also used the embroidery on the jacket in a way that allows the jacket to be used with either the gown or the romper. We also made a matching bib and unisex bonnet as well as several kerchiefs as keepsakes of the dress for family.
