Gifts That Tie Generations Together

Wedding Dress Memory Flowers Worn By Family

Engle WD01These memory flowers were created from a wedding dress. Margot Engle and her sister brought their mother’s wedding dress to my studio looking to have floral Corsages and Boutonniere’s made from it.

Their mother had just been moved to a convalescent home. In cleaning out her home, they came across the wedding dress and, thinking they had some time, decided to have it made into floral pieces that the family could wear at their mother’s funeral when the time finally came.

Unfortunately, Margot’s mother took a turn for the worse about a week or so after they had left the dress with me. Olga and I put it into over-drive to get the flowers done sooner. Working day and night, we were able to move our scheduled finish time up considerably. About a half hour after I had finished the last boutonniere, Margot called to tell me that her mother had passed. The family had a lovely memento of a much loved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Margot and her family.

Jennifer Francisco asked us to use her wedding dress remnants to make a custom Tree Topper Angel. The lovely lace and satin made a beautiful angel. She is about 11" or so tall. i really like making the angels. It is hard to find a consistent supplier of porcelain heads though so the heads can vary quite a bit. I like this particular one even though her head is tilted. ... See MoreSee Less

Jennifer Franisco sent her wedding dress to have a baptism gown, romper combo for her future grandchildren to wear. Jennifer's dress had some lovely cut-out lace and satin with bead work. We tried to capture much of those elements in the gown with puffed sleeves and some of the beaded lace hanging over the waist. Capturing the original hem was a bit of a challenge, but worth it. For the romper, we did use some of the lace as applique on the faux vest. We also made a matching bonnet for the gown and cap for the romper and a bib.
